Inoubliable Patchouli Elixir REMINISCENCE

ENG: Inoubliable Patchouli Elixir is one of the best choicest if you are looking for some serious but not too dry patchuli for not big bucks. Launched in 1970 during the peak of Hippy movement andnic re-launched in 2007.

Patchouli has polarizing smell - you love it or you hate it. But it's widely used as a tiny add to the composition in order to emphase deeper, oriental, earthy nuances. Often we find it combined with rose or lately with sweet fruits , but this is another story. Patchouli-centered fragrances have surely recognizable smell of earth, of woods and resins and depends on other supportive notes how the final result appears. Here, in Patchouli Elixir, you find a sweeter mixture that is like a patchouli’s dessert – creamy, chocolaty, bitter-sweet, juicy but not fruity, and also powdery. It's an heavenly cloud that indulges you for more than 10 hours….
I love it!

10 Une Rose Vermeille by Andy Tauer

"It's not my type of fragrance, not my style at all... I don't like sweets, I don't need some jammy rose!"- these were my thoughts until I got to wear 10 Une Rose Vermeille properly.
"Please, Kaisa, stop to have prejudice!!! You may miss some real beauties!" - the smarter side of me :-)

This rose of Andy Tauer is much more complex than just some "jammy rose". Actually it has kind of dense waxy, bit plastic lipstick kind of smell with some sweet raspberry nuances and retró vibe. I don't like to thought about it like a rose perfume as much more important than notes is the sensation it gives.
This perfumr has a smell of well-dressed dolls, the smell of pale matte carnation with round-shape-trace of pink blush. It'as a smell of capricios fairytale princess waiting for her prince in shadow of carmin red rose bush, it has a smell of my daughter, the smell of dreams and thoughts that appear looking the world through pink sunglasses. It has the smell of magic and maybe it allows magic happen...
"Vermeille" may be confused with "merveille" - it reached by replacing two letters only and it's also meaningful as Andy said.
I love this perfume!

* A tip - look for some Tim Walker artwork! Some of them have similar mood.

Launced in 2010; 50ml/150.-€

Quindi cosa ho visto, cosa ho sentito, come mi è sembrata l’atmosfera?
Inizio dall'ultimo punto.

150ml/60-70.-EUR.

E Lei: “Hai ragione! E’ della retrospettiva di J.C.Ellena, è First di Van Cleef & Arpels”
… e mi permetto una pausa di riflessione!

ENG:

It’s almost a week now that Pitti Fragranze 2019 is over and I felt the need to write down my thoughts.  So, what did I see, what did I feel, how did the atmosphere seem to me?

I start from the last point. The climate was very calm, serious and relaxed. Perhaps even too much, but it gave the possibility to enjoy and elaborate without pressure, without hurry and confusion. I really liked the minimalism of the interior design of Stazione Leopolda - it was essential, leaving space for the imagination. My following comparition might seem strange, but iIf Pitti Fragranze 2019 should be a color it would be gray - elegant, restrained, but a bit empty and boring. Saying this, gray is obtained mixing black and white and other shades of color for special nuances, so there were some flashes of light, some bright colors I remember. There were some fragrances and some new brands that struck me, even though almost half a day I spent only wandering around without finding anything remarkable. The trend or key word seemed to be "wood", but mostly sweetened wood combined with notes like vanilla, tonka bean, benzoin, and coffee, coffee and coffee everywhere. And the bizarre thing that happened at least 5-6 times was that representatives of different brands put in my hand the cap of bottle in order to demonstrate how its heaviness emphasizes the importance of the fragrance... I was there for testing fragrances though.

I need to admit that the most beautiful thing was the Retrospective of Jean Claude Ellena. A gallery set up only with his creations accompanied by illustrative texts. 15 fragrances - from First created 1976 for Van Cleef & Arpels to the last - Rose & Cuir for Frederic Malle created 2019. Unfortunately I could not attend the conference of Maestro Ellena, but I share  a wonderful summary of it written by The_Plum_Girl here .

However, I make a list of what caught my attention.

Sana Jardin, I wrote about in my previous post.

Francesca Bianchi - the obligatory stop for me! The fact that her fragrances are 100% recognizable, that you can't go unnoticed if you wear them and that they hide a courage that “crowd pleasers” can only envy, is enough to say that I admire her work so much. The newborns are Lost in Heaven and The Black Knight - always animalic in the base but with a very different opening. Lost in Heaven represents innocence, freshness, while The Black Knigh has the shield of the woods, of the vetiver mostly. By evolving slowly the distance between them shortened an seemed they could almost amalgamate together.  I would like to highlight  Etruscan Water as well, no longer the last born, but it doesn't matter, because I liked it so much. It is an unexpected mix of freshness and depth, like wild and rebellious water.

Atelier Materi - "chapeau!" in front of the beauty of this collection !!! It is a new French brand created by Veronique Le Bihain. 5 fragrances - Poivre Pomelo, Peau d'Ambrette, Santal Blond, Cuir d’Iris, Cacao Porcelana - that interpret raw materials. I remained literally breathless testing Santal and Iris, as their purity and balance were totally non expected. As soon as I find the chance I get their samples kit.

IF by R.K by Frapin –unfortunately  there where nobody at the stand introducing me this new perfume, but it was enough to smell. This fragrance deserves attention.  It is a woody, like many others at the fair, with the hint of sweetness of fig and tonka bean wrapped into the softness of cashmeran. The name refers to the poem written by Rudyard Kipling to his son. More than a poem, it’s a lesson of a life, just gorgeous!

Dusita - Le Pavillon d’Or - aromatic, sweet, woody and floral – it’s difficult to analyze the newborn of Dusita  as every time I smelled it I detected it in different way. It’s complex and simple at the same time. Like a room with more than 4 corners – there was something I didn’t excepted. It’s a delicate with vague resemblance to Erawan, in my opinion, but sweeter …. It was sweet as its creator Pissara Umavijani whom I had the pleasure to meet again.  It was one of the most beautiful moments of the fair. Her kindness, which definitely comes from the oriental culture, nearly  embarrasses you, but she doesn't let it happen – it’s always her to make you feel at your best.PS! The launch price of Le Pavillon d’Or is excepted to be lower than previous creations.

Ella K Parfums Paris – The Nose Sonia Constant's own brand. 2 new fragrances Cri du Kalahari, with the main note of baobab, and Reflet Sur L’Okavango - a floral perfume composed around an acacia note. The brand is made up of 10 fragrances, but its young creator in the past has already composed fragrances for numerous brands including Tom Ford, Jean Paul Gaultier, Kenzo, Les Liquides Imaginaires, Carner Barcelona, Montblanc, Mugler and Narciso Rodriguez.

Catherine Omai - an exotic and fascinating Nigerian lady who presented her first perfume to wider public. She has Nigerian origins but lives in the United Kingdom creating scented candles and personal /bespoke fragrances for demanding customers. The perfume presented at Pitti is a jewel composed of natural and rare resins and woods, enclosed in a handmade wooden casket.

Coreterno -  Brand from New York with Italian roots. It’ s a lifestyle and design company and the visual impact is very important ,maybe even leaving in shadow olfactory characteristics, but this does not minimizes it. Created by two artists -Francilla Ronchi and Michelangelo Brancato, it captures attention with scented and unscented candles with profound and important messages. The fragrance line is new and consists of 4 fragrances - Rose and Me, Catharsis, Punk Motel and Hierba Nera, created by Luca Maffei. I didn't find them innovative, but Catharsis and Punk Motel are very pleasant. They would make a great gift as it’s difficult to not like them.

Acampora - the collaboration with Miguel Matos (for those who do not know he is one of the most important Fragrantica journalists who recently took the road of creating perfumes and launched his Miguel Matos Perfumes line) is like a breath of fresh air. There are 9 new fragrances - 3 that are part of the Tadema and 6 Acampora 54 collection. They are all to try, very special!
The Nose Miguel Matos, I and  Mat Yudov - chemist and perfumer, writer for Fragrantica

Essential Parfums Divine Vanille - the new fragrance created by Oliver Pescheux that adds to the range of 5 fragrances. This brand is just great! I talked about in the past already, but it deserves to be repeated. The idea was to arrive at an affordable price with minimizing costs by eliminating everything superfluous. And they succeeded! 100ml edp’s retail price is 69.-EUR. Their Noses are known internationally  and the fragrances are memorable. I personally love Rose Magnetic created by Sophie Labbè within I received tons of compliments.

Step Aboard - the idea is borrowed from street fashion and perfumes are probably aimed for narrower audience. Body and hair fragrances packaged in color-type bottles for graffiti. They must be sprayed upside down to create a continuousspray with fine cloud. 150ml / 60-70.-EUR. The Noses are Bertrand Duchaufour and Morgane Collinot.

For a remarque an episode from the fair:
Wandering among different stands I suddenly meet a dear friend. Kisses, hugs for this nice surprise and we ask each other vice versa if other has found something interesting ...
Me: "Not yet, I have arrived just some minutes ago and haven’t  seen a lot  yet ..."
She: "Smell this!" ... and puts a mouillette under my nose.
I’m surprised - the perfume is delicious ... refined, elegant, clean but complex ... totally different from everything I had tested in the morning ..
"What is it ?? !! ??" I look into her eyes and I got to laugh "It's not possible!" I exclaimed "You're just kidding me ... It doesn't smell like any perfume from the fair, it's Calèche or something similar ..."
And She: "You're right! It's from the Retrospective of J.C.Ellena, it's First by Van Cleef & Arpels "

... and I needed a pause of reflection!

Sandalwood Temple by Sana Jardin

💛SANDALWOOD TEMPLE💛 by Sana Jardin founded by Amy Christiansen Si-Ahmed -  one of my favorite fragrances and also perfume houses tasted at Pitti Fragranze19.
It's a creation of IFF Master Perfumer Carlos Benaim , as are other 7 perfumes of this house. A deep, creamy and moderately sweet sandalwood composition that been inhaled gives you the sense of infinity and it's not difficult to imagin why sandalwood was belived to be able to open the third eye and deepen connection with your divine spirit. Maybe it's also a moment in my life I need to reflect so I reached for the help that nature can give me... Anyway, besides this sandalwood fragrance I enjoyd also a lot the rest of Sana's offering - beautiful florals featuring jasmin, tuberose and orange flower (Carlos Benaim is a master of florals, remember his Jasmin Noir for Bvlgari or Eau de Magnolia for Frederic Malle); patchouli; amber; musk..
Sana Jardin is not only a luxury fragrance house, but it's based on socially consious proget helping Moroccon women to develop their own business harvesting flowers and re-using the waste of perfume oil production. Sana Jardin takes part of Beyond Sustanability - a movement that creates social change through commerce, not charity. All perfumes are in edp concentration containing 15-20% of natural essential oils, sold in 50ml/107.-€ and 100ml/203.-€ bottles. The discovery set is available as well (you can find it here ).
All fragrances are free from phthalates, artificial colorants, parabens and formaldehydes.
