La Castiglione by Les Cocottes de Paris

I’ve been waiting  even too much for writing this review, as I liked this perfume from the first time I tested it and it deserved to be put into the spotlight immidiately, but well, better later than never, so I'm writing now!
La Castiglione is one of three fragrances created by Anais Biguine’s from  the “Les Cocottes de Paris” dedicated to three famous courtesans of the Belle Époque and launched in 2015. As different were these three women as different are these fragrances ( La Castiglione, La Belle Otero and Melle Cleo).
My absolute favorite is La Castiglione  - the dark mystical, gothic, witchy perfume I got enchanted by.
The creator says about it:“This nocturnal, vampire-like creature has burst upon the social scene, where she brings a fragrance of newness.
She is perfectly beautiful with a boldness that makers her fashionable.
La Castiglione has odd manners. She doesn’t make conversation, babble or dance, for she wants to be an almost silent divinity, like a statue, an effigy. A photographic word about the role.”
So who was she, the countess La Castiglione???

Her real name was Virginia Elisabetta Luisa Carlotta Antonietta Teresa Maria Oldoïni, but she was known by her nickname “ Nicchia”. She was married young,  but became famous as the mistress of Napoleon III and as the woman who helped  the unification of Italy.  She was aware about her beauty and  liked to be photographed, but  getting older started to  hide from the daylight behind blackout curtains, started to wear black and to went out only at nights.
I don’t know what fascinates me about this perfume, but I absolutely adore it. It has a medicinal prickly bitter opening with wormwood and lemon that twists with sweetness of myrrh and liquorice. Its mystic cloud seems to never fade away and to play with light and shadow in the embrance of resins and balsams – copaiba, styrax and ambergris. It’s an oriental woody beauty, unique as its muse. Animalic and dark, it’s easily wearable though, at least for me. It seems to open my mind and give me strength - what could I ask more.

Ho aspettato anche troppo prima di scrivere questa recensione. Questa fragranza meritava di essere messa sotto i riflettori subito dopo averla testata, ma capita che per le cose più belle non trovo le parole...
La Castiglione è una delle tre fragranze della linea "Les Cocottes de Paris" create e lanciate nel 2015 da Anais Biguine, ispirate dalla vita di tre famose cortigiane della Belle Époque. Di come erano diverse queste tre donne, sono diverse queste fragranze (La Castiglione, La Belle Otero e Melle Cleo). Il mio preferito in assoluto è La Castiglione - il profumo oscuro, gotico, un vero incanto.

“Questa creatura notturna, simile ad un vampiro ha i modi strani – non partecipa alla conversazione, non chiacchiera, non balla, vuole essere una divinità silenziosa, come una statua."
Allora chi era lei, la contessa di Castiglione ??? Il suo vero nome era Virginia Elisabetta Luisa Carlotta Antonietta Teresa Maria Oldoïni, ma era più conosciuta con il suo soprannome "Nicchia". Si  sposò da giovane, ma divenne famosa come l'amante di Napoleone III . Fu consapevole della sua bellezza e le piaceva essere fotografata, ma invecchiandosi iniziai a nascondersi dalla luce del giorno, a vestirsi di nero e uscire solo di notte.
Non so cosa mi affascina di questo profumo, ma lo adoro. Si apre con le note amare e pungenti di assenzio e limone che si intrecciano con la dolcezza della mirra e liquirizia. Nella sua profondità gioca con la luce e le ombre e la sua nuvola sembra di non svanire mai soffocandosi lentamente nell’abbraccio delle resini e balsami  - copaiba, styrax e ambra grigia.

È una bellezza legnosa orientale, unica come la sua musa. Animalico e oscuro ma comunque facilmente indossabile, almeno per me. Mi schiarisce le idee e mi da la forza, cos'altro potrei chiedergli.
