La Collection Vanille SYLVAINE DELACOURTE

Vanilla is often related to gourmands and dessert-type of fragrances, but I think the vanilla base or even hint of it works even better in aromatic or citrusy perfumes. I find them much more fascinating and some of them have stolen my heart.
Sylvaine Delacourte, ex perfumer of Guerlain. created her Musk collection first and now launched La Collection Vanille – the kind of vanilla I love.
It's composed by 5 perfumes - Valkyrie, Vahina, Vanori, Virgile, Vangelis.
My personal favorite is Virgile; followed by Vangelis and Valkyrie.
- Virgile - result of cooperation of Sylvaine and Irene Farmachidi; an aromatic fresh and powdery concoction achieved combining woody fresh cedar, soft geranium and vanilla. Despites its low sillage, its longevity is very good - 7-8 hours.
- Vangelis - also this one is born in collaboration with Irene Farmachidi. Following its notes Vangelis supposed to be spicy vanilla, but my first thoughts upon smelling it was soft rubbery leather with incense and vanilla. I guess cloves are the mail player here and add smokiness. It's fascinating warm and sensual, perfect for cold autumn nights.
- Valkyrie - here we can detect the magic touch of big master - Maurice Roucel; the composition is built up on contradiction between citrusy and cool minty notes and softness of vanilla. In some phase it recalls Van-Ile by Zolty and even Kashnoir by Laboratorio Olfattivo (both creations by Cècile Zarokian).
- Vahina - creation of Randa Hammami and Sylvaine, tender floral with orange blossom and osmanthus; a little bit aquatic and bit too fleeting, it has the shortest longevity among the collection.
- Vanori - sweet floral with frangipani and honey, but grapefruit adds bitterness that strangely dominates on my skin and disturbs me a bit.

JO MALONE LONDON

Sono onesta – fino a poco fa non avevo sentito la necessità di esplorare la casa profumi Jo Malone London. L’avevo lasciata nell'ombra ad aspettare il suo turno. E’ la triste conseguenza del mercato dei profumi saturato che porge dei limiti ad ogni appassionato. La scelta tra cosa sentire e cosa no, che cosa andare a cercare e cosa dimenticare è frequentemente casuale e si basa in una al massimo due caratteristiche negative. Nel caso di Jo Malone London erano per il primo - i nomi delle fragranze - spesso composti solamente di due note principali della piramide olfattiva, che non mi ispiravano. Un motivo ridicolo, ma sufficente se si tratta di dover stringere le scelte. E per secondo il fatto che il marchio non si trovava con facilità. Avevo sentito qualcosa casualmente  ma non è stato convincente abbastanza per mettermi alla ricerca. Quando però ho saputo che Jo Malone London fosse una delle case di profumi più amate dalla duchessa Meghan Markle (mi permetto di non dare l'importanza ai “reali” in generale, ma lei l'adoro!) è scattata la scintilla – volevo sentirli. Il destino ha giocato a mio favore – tutta la gamma di Jo Malone London è ora presente al nuovo punto vendita di CAP a Pesaro  - CAP Profumerie 1978 e ovvio che sono andata ad esplorarla. Sentendo le fragranze ho dimenticato la mia perplessità per i nomi. Ancora una volta ho dovuto credere nella perfezione della semplicità. I nomi ci fanno da guida, ma non fanno cadere le composizioni nella banalità – puoi saper il nome, ma non sai comunque cosa ti aspetta. La scelta poi è talmente ampia che ogni stato d’anima trova facilmente il suo gemello. Poi aggiungiamo su tutto l’eleganza inglese e, come è successo a me, possiamo arrivare al punto di dover cogliere una nuova addizione.
Alcune fragranze sono state create dalla Sig.ra Jo Malone personalmente che da piccola sperimentava con i fiori e le piante del giardino provando a creare le saponette. L'amore per i fiori le rimase per sempre e Jo inizió la sua carriera come fiorista, di sera lavorando poi come estetista offrendo ai clienti i massaggi viso. Come regalo per i clienti più affezionati creó un olio da bagno alla noce moscata e lo zenzero che ebbe successo e da li' parti'  il suo business. La prima boutique fu aperta a Londra nel 1994 e nel 1999 fu trasferita a Sloane Street. Il successo di Jo Malone lo notarono anche dei giganti del mondo della profumeria e nel 1999 Jo Malone London fu comprato da Estèe Lauder. La Sig.ra Jo rimase a collaborare nella creazione di fragranze fino al 2006, ma da li' in poi i profumi di Jo Malone iniziaroni ad essere creati anche da diversi profumieri di fama internazionale.

Per questa volta la mia scelta è caduta su Earl Grey & Cucumber – l’aroma del thè nero con il bergamotto, alleggerito con le note acquatiche e ammorbidito dalla cera d’api. Un profumo fresco aromatico e nella base sorprendentemente talcato che fa parte della collezione limitata “Tea Collection “ creata da Christine Nagel nel 2011; e uno spray da borsa di Lime Basil & Mandarin – la colonia cult creato da Jo Malone nel 1999.

Nella lista d’attesa rimangono tanti profumi:
Black Cedarwood & Juniper – fa parte della collezione London Rain lanciata nel 2014, anche esso creato da Christine Nagel. Un meraviglioso profumo legnoso di ginepro e cedro. Mi ha ricordato i nomi come Tam Dao Diptyque, Juniper Sling di Penhaligon's.
154 Cologne – buonissima colonia aromatica con ottima persistenza creata nel 2001 da Jo Malone.
Amber & Lavender – considerato una colonia da uomo, una composizione orientale fougere con agrumi, ambra, patchouli, lavanda, ma portato da donna le aggiunge solo il fascino. Una delle prime creazioni di Jo Malone dal 1995.
Per le amanti della tuberosa nomino – Tuberose Angelica (Cologne Intense), veramente affascinante e sensuale e chi cerca un bouquet di rose romantiche non dovrebbe far sfuggire Red Roses.
PS! I profumi preferiti da Meghan Markle sono Wood Sage & Sea Salt e Wild Bluebell, il secondo è particolarissimo, ha l'odore del sottobosco, di un verde dorato olioso come la linfa che corre negli steli e nelle foglie.
Assolutamente da provare sono i prodotti corpo – le creme,lozioni e saponette. Mi ha sorpresa per esempio la crema corpo di Fleur d’Oranger, non mi aveva entusiasmato la colonia, ma nella crema oltre ai fiori d’arancio si sente la succosità dell'arancia, di una spremuta fresca, un profumo da non staccare più il naso dal braccio!

Eden CACHAREL

ENG: If you are looking for some distinctive perfume, it's no need to follow always high price tag or search noble niche boutiques (that doesn’t mean you can’t find them there, but still…). Some precious gems can be found returning just back in time - searching among forgotten bottles on lower shelves at perfumeries or on-line shops. You don’t find advertising in magazines pushing them or SAs offering to spray them to blotters whatever it costs, but these fragrances still exist and usually are available for rather low price.
One of them is Eden by Cacharel. Fragrance that is created by Jean Guichard in 1994. His creations are also for example Loulou by Cacharel and Obsession by CK.
Eden is one of the most distinguish fragrances ever created. With its aquatic but sweet and powdery aroma that’s melted in green, it has a kind of witchy vibe. It’s strange, non-usual, in the way the perfume named by  the garden of the Sin can be. It’s like the beginning and the end together, like the instinct without rationality, calm but plenty of energy that stays immobile and waits its moment. Eden is waxy and bold, earthy and watery. It smells like a woody platter plenty of melon slices , intoxicated white flowers decorated with mimosa and patchouli leaves. It’s a perfume of nudity that’s not ashamed or intimidated of it. It’s proud of its power of its purity.
Eden is one of perfumes that can be recognized among hundreds.
You can find it for 35-55.-EUR/50ml.

IT: Se stai cercando un profumo distintivo, non è necessario seguire sempre un prezzo elevato o cercare le boutique di nicchia (ciò non significa che non puoi trovarli lì, ma comunque ...). Si possono trovare alcune meraviglie preziose tornano semplicemente indietro nel tempo - cercando tra bottiglie dimenticate sugli scaffali più bassi di profumerie o negozi online. Di essi non trovi le pubblicità nelle riviste, e non ci sono i promoter che teli offrono ad ogno costo nebulizzandoli sui blotters, ma queste fragranze esistono ancora e di solito sono disponibili a prezzi piuttosto bassi.
Uno di loro è Eden di Cacharel. Fragranza creata da Jean Guichard nel 1994. Le sue creazioni sono anche ad esempio Loulou di Cacharel e Obsession di CK.
Eden è una delle fragranze più uniche mai create. Con il suo aroma acquatico ma dolce e talcato che si scioglie nel verde, ha un’aura incantevole e stregata. È strano, sorprendente, in modo in cui può essere solo il profumo che prende il nome dal giardino del peccato. È come l'inizio e la fine insieme, come l'istinto senza razionalità, la calma con  l'energia abbondante ma immobile che si attende il suo momento. COLOGNES by GUERLAIN

ENG: I might be considered old fashioned or androgyny by my taste, but I love all kind of colognes and barbershop perfumes. Not all of them though, but the best, the best for my nose that sometimes is rather pretentious.
Thankfully my loved Guerlain offers a variety of them and besides they share many similar qualities,  they still possess a personality meant for different occasions and for different moods.
Here below I'm comparing the current versions of them, not vintage rarities that are difficult to find.
The travel set you can see on the first photo is composed of 4 - 15ml sprayers:

- Eau Cologne du Coq - the first version was created by in 1894 by Aime Guerlain. It has changed in time, but it's still an epitome of class that shouldn't lack from any gentlemen's wardrobe. I'm saying gentlemen's as I find it to be the most masculine among Eaux in its vibe, the closest to classic barbershop fragrances we can imagine. Maybe it's due to lavender and oakmoss that deliver him a lightly bitter and aromatic aroma, but it's still fresh because of citruses you detect in the opening.

Miniature of vintage Cologne Imperiale

- Eau de Impèriale - its story starts in 1853 in the laboratory of perfumer Pierre-Francois-Pascal Guerlain who created Eau de Impèriale for Her Majesty Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoleon III. Before it got the authorization to be sold widely, it was for personal use of the Empress only and rumors said the Eau de Cologne Imperiale was used also as a treatment of  Her Majesty's migraines.
With time passing the formula is obviously changed, but it's still extremely pleasant aromatic herbal citrusy cologne. Compared to others I detect more aromatic notes, like rosemary, verbena and it has soft woody sweet base of tonka bean and sandalwood.

- Cologne du Parfumeur - created in 2010 by the current in-house Nose of Guerlain, Thierry Wasser. It's different from its ancestors as it's much more floral and musky. I detect a sweet neroli that reminds me a bit of Mugler's Cologne, it not as citrusy as its brothers Eaux.

- Eau de Guerlain - the creation of Jean-Paul Guerlain from1974. Describing it with two words - a citrusy splash that becoms the most delicious luxury soap. Extremely pleasant, reinvigorating and clean. I absolutely love it!

- Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat - a realistic mouth watering lemon juicy! The best treat for too-early get-ups. The longevity is poor, but even an half an hour with this delicious juice gives energy.

- Eau de Cologne du 68 - if I should chose just one of all of them, it would be Cologne du 68. It's a soft iris powder with citruses and aromatic herbs, complex and simple at the same time. Timelessly elegant.
Cologne du 68 is composed by Sophie Labbe on 2006 using 68 different elements, all of them are listed on the bottle.
And I can't to not avert you - when you see it, just grab for it! This gem is unfortunately discontinued.

IT: Potrei essere considerata un pò retrò o androgina per i miei gusti, ma amo tutti i tipi di colonie e profumi da barbiere. Non tutti però, solo i migliori per il mio naso che, devo ammetterlo, a volte è piuttosto pretenzioso.
Per fortuna il mio amato Guerlain offre una varietà di colonie che oltre a condividere tante qualità simili, possiedono la personalità per le occasioni e gli stati d'animo diversi.Ho messo in confronto le versioni attuali di loro, non rarità vintage che siano difficili da trovare.

Sulla prima foto c'è il set da viaggio composto da 4 spruzzatori da 15 ml:
- Eau Cologne du Coq - la prima versione fu creata nel 1894 da Aimè Guerlain.Cologne du Coq è cambiato nel tempo, ma è pur sempre un epitome di classe che non dovrebbe mancare nel guardaroba di un gentiluomo. Dico gentiluomo perché trovo che sia il più maschile tra gli Eaux. Con le note di lavanda e muschio di quercia  che gli conferiscono un aroma leggermente amarognola è più vicino alle classiche fragranze da barbershop che possiamo immaginare. Ma è comunque molto rinfrescante a causa degli agrumi che si rilevino nell'apertura.

- Eau de Impèriale - la sua storia iniziò nel 1853 nel laboratorio del profumiere Pierre-Francois-Pascal Guerlain che creò l'Eau de Impèriale per Sua Maestà Imperatrice Eugenia, moglie di Napoleone III. Prima che l'Eau ebbe l'autorizzazione di essere venduta ampiamente, fu solo per uso personale dell'Imperatrice e si diceva che l'Eau de Cologne Imperiale fosse usata anche come trattamento delle emicranie di Sua Maestà.
Con il passare del tempo la sua formula è ovviamente cambiata, ma la fragranza non ha perso il suo fascino. E' una colonia aromatica a mille strati. Rispetto agli altri ci rilevo più le note delle erbe come il rosmarino, la verbena su una base dolce e legnosa della  fava tonka e del sandalo.

- Cologne du Parfumeur - creato nel 2010 dall'attuale Naso della casa  Guerlain - Thierry Wasser. È diverso dai suoi antenati in quanto è molto più floreale e muschiato. Ci sento un neroli dolce che mi ricorda un pò la Colonia di Mugler. Trovo Cologne du Parfumeur meno agrumato rispetto a suoi fratelli Eaux e forse più femminile nella sua dolcezza.

- Eau de Guerlain - la creazione di Jean-Paul Guerlain del 1974. Descrivendolo con due parole: uno splash agrumato che diventa un delizioso sapone di lusso . Estremamente piacevole, rinvigorente e pulito. J'adore!

- Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat - un succoso e succulento limone imbottigliato! E' il miglior trattamento contro la stanchezza e per i risvegli sonnolenti. La longevità è scarsa, ma anche una mezz'ora con questo delizioso succo dona l'energia. Creato da Jacques Guerlain nel 1920.

- Eau de Cologne du 68 - se dovessi sceglierne solo uno, sarebbe il Cologne du 68. Si tratta di un' iris poudrèe con agrumi ed erbe aromatiche, complessa e semplice allo stesso tempo. Elegante e sofisticato. Cologne du 68 è stato creato da Sophie Labbe nel 2006 usando 68 diversi elementi, tutti elencati sulla bottiglia. Se lo troverete, prendetelo! Purtroppo è uno dei profumi discontinuati.

28 LA PAUSA Les Exclusifs de Chanel (Edt)

IT: 28 La Pausa Les Exclusifs de Chanel Edt - profumo di vacanza - prende il suo nome dalla Villa La Pausa, la residenza estiva di Coco Chanel in Costa Azzurra dal 1929 al 1953. Un luogo di rifugio per lei e per il suo amante, il Duca di Wesminster, da chi ebbe avuto in regalo la terra su quale poi venne costruito la villa seguendo le precise istruzioni di lei.

Il profumo è stato creato nel 2007 da Jacques Polge che si è ispirato dal immenso giardino della Villa La Pausa pieno di ulivi, mimose, margherite ed iris, di lavanda e piante di rosmarino - scelti da Coco e assolutamente nel suo stile -

la stessa eleganza e classe che c'è nel design della villa.

La Pausa è uno dei più belli profumi costruiti intorno a iris - luminoso e morbido, rinfrescante e calmante allo stesso tempo. Con le sue note talcate e legnose corona il fascino  di questo meraviglioso fiore. Non è un'iris burroso, sembra persino di percepire un tocco nascosto di aldeidi, come in molte fragranze di Chanel, ma trovo inutile descriverlo analizzandolo le note, la bellezza della La Pausa può essere compresa solamente annusandolo.

ENG: 28 La Pausa Les Exclusifs de Chanel Edt - an holiday perfum, named by Villa La Pausa, Coco Chanel's summer residence in French Riviera from 1929 - 1953.
The perfume was created on 2007 by Jacques Polge who got inspiration from immense garden of the villa plenty of olive trees, mimosas, daisies and irises, lavender and rosmarine plants - chosen by Coco and reflecting her style. The same classy simple elegance that may be seen in interior design and architecture of the villa.
La Pausa is one of the most beautiful iris centered perfumes - luminous, soft and soothening, refreshing and calming at the same time, plenty of woody powdery charm of this marvelous flower. It's not much buttery or rooty, seems even that it hides a touch of aldehydes as many Chanel fragrances do, but it's also needless to describe it by singular notes - the beauty of La Pausa can by comprehended only by smelling it.

CÈCILE ZAROKIAN - one of my favorite Perfumers

It just happens sometimes that after testing hundred of perfumes you start to look for some names. For these names that continuously pop up after finding something pleasant, interesting, even phenomenal and wonderful.  Cècile Zarokian is one of these names for me. She is young talented perfumer with Armenian origins in possession of recognizable calligraphy and style. I’m constantly finding myself in the phase of looking news about her and about her future works, I’m waiting with eager for some new releases, as her work is simply adorable.

Cècile Zarokian graduated from ISIPCA ad was trained by Robertet. In 2011 she founded her own company and since that works as independent perfumer. The first creation that brought her deserved recognition was Epic Women for Amouage, it was during he apprendice time at Robertet in 2009. There are more than 40 well-known fragrances in her “book” with add of numerous perfumed candels for different companies and other.

My Cècile’s story started with Kashnoir by Laboratorio Olfattivo in 2014. It was love from the first sniff. Fresh, citrusy, aromatic, sweet, resinous and deep – multilayered creation that moved me deeply. I remember even a perfumery store where I smelled it and sprayed on my hair as sales assistant had suggested. It was in San Marino. The wonderful smell followed me all windy day and I couldn’t get it out of my head any more.

The next was Van-ile by Jacques Zolty, that's still among my most loved vanillas. Created in 2014, but unfortunately discontinued. Its structure is recognizable –  many faces that pop up continuously changing from fresh and citrusy to sweet, powdery and mystically deep. It's pity to know that only few bottles of it are still findable and one day it will be gone. But thanksfully there is Cècile... creating new magical potions.

Afterwards I fell for Nerotic created for Laboratorio Olfattivo in 2016 – a sensual wet creamy wood kind of smell – difficult to describe, but easy to love. And obviously Epic by Amouage (2009) - an animalic oriental rose, may be even uninviting in its intensity, but a perfume with extraordinary power. For me it's a fragrance that increases my strength of mind and give me forth.

I had a great pleasure to meet Cècile once. It was at Sheiduna’s presentation at Pitti.  But I was so excited I only expressed my big ammiration for her work and didn’t asked nearly nothing. If it would happen again, I wouldn’t let this occasion to escape any more.

Fior di Salina L'ERBOLARIO

ENG: L'Erbolario has always been a treasure coffer plenty of little surprising gems and the last release confirms its validity.
Fior di Salina is extremly wellbalanced fresh breez inspired by the nature of Mediterranean coasts. It opens with the splash of bitter-sour bergamot that fades rather quickly leaving the place to aromatic mineral kind of smell - greeness of galbanum and immortel, marine salty accord and powdery sweet touch of iris. In some moments  it seems to detect even some sweet and minty notes, but mostly it's a relaxing mix of aromatic mediterranean herbes mixed with sea salt and citruses, all expressed in the form of pastels - soft and powdery! An excellent aroma, with medium sillage and good persistance, absolutely perfect to accompany whole summer.
The line includes 50ml Perfume, body lotion, shower gel, body oil-scrub.

ITA: Fior di Salina è una brezza di  freschezza  ben bilanciata, ispirata alla natura delle coste del Mediterraneo. Si apre con una spruzzata di bergamotto amaro-acido che svanisce in modo piuttosto veloce lasciando il posto ad un odore minerale aromatico - la freschezza del galbano e dell'elicriso, l'accordo marino e il dolce tocco dell' iris. In alcuni momenti sembra rilevare anche alcune note di menta dolce, ma soprattutto è un trionfo del profumo di erbe aromatiche mediterranee mescolate con sale marino e agrumi,  tutto in tonalità dei pastelli soffice e talcato. È un eccellente compagno per tutta l'estate, con sillage medio e la persistenza buona, assolutamente perfetto.
La linea comprende 50 ml Profumo, crema corpo, gel doccia, olio-scrub per il corpo.

My most loved FIG fragrances

Fig is the fruit of Gods and I can say the same about fig perfumes. I'm not a fruity perfumes lover, but fig makes an exeption for me. I even don't consider fig note as "fruity" as it is so much richer compared to any other fruit. It covers wider spectrum including green milky smell of its crushed leaves, dry powdery woodiness of its branches and the juicy sweetness of its fruits. As a big fig fragrance lover I could wear them always and here you can peek to my figgy paradise and find also some other suggestion that for the moment stay in my everlasting wish-list.

VISITEUR - a peek to autumn 2018

It's bit funny, but last night I made a dream about reviewing this new niche perfume brand😄. Strange, but wakeing up I remembered everything so I  decided to write it down before my dream disappears :-)...

VISITEUR is a Swedish brand founded by Janne Rainer Voorenmaa and the first three fragrances will be launched in autumn 2018. These perfumes recount us emotions about certain moments from different times and places, draw visuals that have been fixed in our memory and guide us with an odor in finding these special moments and memories again.

Three fragrances. Three different very talented Noses. Three stories.

BEACH BIZARRE, the Nose Patrice Revillard.

Beach Bizzarre has the double face of a tropical paradise. It's a citrusy salty cocktail (lime, seaweed, white flowers..), bitter and with metallic edge (cannabis, patchouli, ambergris…). Like Margarita cocktail in its salt-rimmed glass - inviting and refreshing but sly. The metallic note conjures the idea of something scary, like finding yourself in beautiful beach, but by night and alone, no more music, no more sun and ballerinas...just you and an endless ocean in front of you. It needs some courage to dive in, but when you'll do it you'll be welcomed to immense beauty.

THOUSAND LAKES, the Nose Marie Schnirrer. 

The Land of the Thousand Lakes  is another name of  Finland. It's plenty of  birch forests, infinite swamps, little bonds and crystalline lakes hiding numerous summerhouses and saunas. This is a very familiar atmosphere for me as  I grew up in the neighbor country. This perfume brings you to these magic places, far away from metropolis and cities and helps to find often forgotten connection with nature. It has the smell of birch bunches - hay-like but greener and sweeter, mineral smell of hot stones from sauna, of steam, of wood resins that you see as tears on the walls of wooden sauna and even the smell of earth, mushrooms and mosses - all this is weaved into this surprising perfume. It’s soft and tender, naked even…pure if I may say so.

For me it was one of few times I smelt something so close to my childhood memories.

PENSÃO AMOR - the Nose Cécile Zarokian. 

For me the most intriguing perfume from the line and my favorite. The story of this fragrance is dirty, flirty, dark, arduous, sad and joyful at the same time...  The name Pensão Amor is the name of a lively bar at Lisbon that in past was a brothel. This place's use is changed but its interior and decorations still refer clearly to its history. The Perfumer, Cècile Zarokian, found the key to this complex mood in tuberose - the most bewitching note ever, combining it with cumin, smoke, tobacco... The result is the most animalic tuberose I've smelt. It has kind of rubbery, plastic smell like of something false - an inviting  feigned love of doll-like beauty in dusty smoky darkness. It's mesmerizing in its daringness. The first tuberose based fragranze Cécile created and it's magnificent!

ITA: È una cosa bizzarra - stanotte ho sognato di  aver recensito questa nuova linea di profumi. Svegliandomi mi  ricordavo tutto come l’avessi appena scritto. Quindi ho deciso di metterlo sulla carta prima che il mi sogno scompaia: -) ...

VISITEUR è un marchio svedese fondato da Janne Rainer Voorenmaa e le prime tre fragranze non sono ancora sul mercato, ma saranno lanciate nell'autunno 2018. Questi profumi ci raccontano gli emozioni  dei momenti  e dai luoghi diversi, disegnano elementi visivi che siano stati fissati nella nostra memoria e ci guidano con  l’odore nel ritrovare di nuovo questi  ricordi speciali.

Tre fragranze. Tre diversi Profumieri di grande talento. Tre storie.

BEACH BIZARRE, il Naso Patrice Revillard.

Beach Bizarre ha la doppia faccia di un paradiso tropicale. È un cocktail salato agrumato (lime, alghe marine, fiori bianchi …), amaro e con un tocco metallico (cannabis, patchouli, ambra grigia ...). Come un cocktail Margarita nel suo bicchiere bordato di sale - invitante e rinfrescante, ma furbo. La nota metallica evoca l'idea di qualcosa di spaventoso, come trovarsi in su una bella spiaggia, ma di notte e da solo, niente più musica, niente più sole abbagliante, niente ballerine ... solo tu e l’oceano infinito di fronte a te. C’è bisogno di un po’ di coraggio per tuffarsi, ma quando lo farai sarai accolto da un’ immensa bellezza.

THOUSAND LAKES, il Naso Marie Schnirrer.

The Land of Thaousand Lakes è un altro nome della Finlandia. Questa terra è immersa nelle foreste di betulle, coperta d’ infinite paludi, piccoli stagni e laghi cristallini dove nasconde numerose casettine estive e saune. È  un'atmosfera molto familiare per me di quanto ho passato la mia infanzia nel paese vicino, sempre al Nord. Thousand  Lakes ti porta in questi luoghi magici lontani dalle metropoli e dalle città e aiuta a trovare la vicinanza con la natura, spesso dimenticata.  La fragranza ha l’odore di mazzi di riami di betulla  - simile al fieno ma più verde e dolce, l’odore minerale di pietre scottanti in sauna, di vapore, di resine di legno che vedi come lacrime sulle pareti di sauna  e persino l'odore della terra , di funghi e di lichene - tutto questo è intrecciato in Thousand Lakes  - un profumo tanto sorprendente come raro. In sua complessità è morbido e tenero, nudo anche ... puro se si può dire.

Per me è stata una delle poche volte in cui ho sentito qualcosa di così vicino ai miei ricordi d'infanzia.

PENSÃO AMOR - il Naso Cécile Zarokian.

Il profumo  più intrigante della linea e il mio preferito. La storia di questa fragranza è oscura, sporca, civettuola, ardua, triste e gioiosa allo stesso tempo ... Il nome Pensão Amor è il nome di un bar vivace a Lisbona che in passato era un bordello. L'uso di questo luogo è cambiato, ma i suoi interni e le decorazioni si riferiscono ancora chiaramente alla sua storia. Il Naso, Cècile Zarokian, ha trovato la chiave per evocare questo  immagine complesso, nella tuberosa - la nota più ammaliante che ci sia e la combina con cumino, fumo, tabacco ... Il risultato è la tuberosa più animale che abbia mai sentito. Ha l’odore gommoso, plasticoso,  come di qualcosa di falso –  di un amore finta di una bellezza  da bambola  in un'oscurità polverosa e fumosa. È ipnotizzante nella sua audacia. 

La prima fragranza di tuberosa di Cécile …. semplicemente  magnifica!

Le Petit Prince NISHANE

Murat Katran di Nishane all' Esxence 2018.

IT: Nishane ha presentato ad Esxence 2018 due profumi ispirati alla storia del Piccolo Principe di Antoine de Saint-Exupèrie - B-612 e Vain & Naïve.

Non è abbastanza se dico che sia stata un'idea meravigliosa. Disegnare con l'odore le idee sul contrasto tra la visione del mondo senza limiti dei bambini e quella degli adulti, considerata gretta; raccontare l'importanza di un luogo che si possa considerare proprio, la casa, che nel libro era l'asteroide B-612, il luogo di provenienza del Piccolo Principe, è infinitamente affascinante.

Ma oltre ciò, l'asteroide B-612 è un riferimento ad un fenomeno molto diffuso  - alla paura dello sconosciuto ed al disprezzo verso l'estraneo derivati dall'ignoranza. Il narratore del libro ci spiega che la scoperta dell'asteroide B-612 non fu creduto subito per l'abbigliamento tradizionale turco dello scienziato in quale si presentò davanti ad un commissione scientifico. Presentandosi vestito in modo occidentale il discorso cambiò e la scoperta fu registrata.

Ma che profumo ha B-612???
Per me ha un profumo a mille strati - è terroso, aromatico, persino ammuffito e minerale. Ha l'odore del rametto di cipresso stritolato tra le dita, del patchouli umido e della lavanda che a tratti si presenta persino mentolata. La fava tonka aggiunge la dolcezza e cashmeran garantisce un sentore legnoso muschiato. La fragranza è particolare, ma molto piacevole....annusandola si annusa la serenità e io me ne sono rimasta incantata!

Vain & Naïve invece è il profumo che celebra il vero amore; nella storia l'amore che legava il Piccolo Principe alla sua Rosa. L'amore che l'ha fatto soffrire, ma che non lasciava mai i suoi pensieri. 
“È il tempo che tu hai perduto per la tua rosa che ha fatto la tua rosa così importante.”
Vain & Naïve è una fragranza floreale muschiata fruttata, molto tenera e soffice, innocente e bella con le note di lampone,  rosa, muschio. Annusandolo sembra di inspirare la nebbia su un prato fiorito. È un profumo facile d'apprezzare e d'amare.

Tutte le due fragranze sono state lanciate sul mercato in aprile 2018, quindi a breve dovrebbero diventare disponibile.

ENG: Nishane presented at Esxence 2018 two perfumes inspired by the story of Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupèrie: B-612 and Vain & Naïve.
It's not enough to say I consider it to be a wonderful idea. Drawing with the smell the idea about contrast between the unlimited way of children to see the World and the way of  thinking of adults considered  to be narrow minded and mean; telling us about the importance of a place that can be considered proper, the home, that for the Little Prince was the asteroid B-612,  is infinitely fascinating.
But beyond that, the asteroid B-612 is also a reference to a widespread phenomenon - the fear of the unknown and the contempt of the stranger that derives from ignorance. The narrator of the book explains that the discovery of the asteroid B-612 was not immediately believed as the scientist presented himself at the scientific commission wearing traditional Turkish clothing. The second time he presented his discovery he did it in Western clothes, he was accepted and the discovery was recorded.
But how does B-612 smell like???
For me it’s a thousand-layer perfume - it's earthy, aromatic, even musty and mineral. It has the smell of the cypress twig crushed between  fingers, the smell of wet earthy patchouli and the smell of lavender that at times presents itself even minty. The aromatic woody qualities are rounded and sweetened by  tonka bean  and cashmeran ( a quality of synthetic musk) that guarantees a musky woody background. The fragrance is particular, but very pleasant .... it’s the smell of serenity.

VAIN & NAVE instead is the perfume that celebrates true love; in the book it was the love that bound the Little Prince to his Rose. The love that made him suffer, but never left his thoughts.

Vain & Naïve is a fruity musky floral fragrance, very tender and soft, innocent and beautiful. I detect mostly rose and other soft floral notes with musk, raspberry and woody notes.  It gives an impression of smelling the fog on a flowery meadow. It is easy to appreciate and love this perfume.
Both fragrances were launched on the market in April 2018, so they will soon become available.
Both are extracts; 50ml / 195.- €.

ESXENCE 2018

Esxence 2018 – the 10th edition is over. For me it was the second time to partecipate to this wonderful event of art of perfumery and even my time was limited I’m so plenty of exhiting emotions its difficult to orientate in. What I love about these kind of events is the human contact and the possibility to meet persons behind every creation, listen their stories and thoughts  why and how their fragrances have born.

More detailed reviews will wait you in next days when I’ll test perfumes properly, but I would like to mention quickly the ones that moved me more.

MILLER ET BERTAUX – one of my favorite brands ever,  presented their Tulsivivah ! – a refreshing aromatic tribute to India, and to the connection between green nature and humanity, developed around tulsi, commonly known as holy basil with citruses and sandalwood base. For me was new also their Indian Study /Santal +++ - it’s a must for all sandalwood lovers, I personally am totally in love.

UERMI –  I re- discovered the whole brand. I loved a lot already Cècile Zarokian’s creation for them – OR+White, OR+Cashmere, OR+Ange, OR+Kanabo. The new launch is OR+Damask, an explosion of roses created by a big name in perfumery – Maurice Roucel. It definitely a deserves special post.

NISHANE – a Turkish house known for working with precious essence, presented the story of Little Price. Two fragrances, two different concepts. Vain&Naïve- a tender rose, as the one Little Prince loved; B-612 – aromatic and woody with lavender , cedar and sandalwood –  the feeling of home, as it was B 612 for Little Prince, the asteroid he was from. PS!The last one is one of my personal favorites from the fair.

MASQUE MILANO – (Homage to) Hemingway, one of the best vetiver based fragrances I have smelt. Features both – Haitian and Java vetiver lightened with freshness of rhubarb and ginger. The Nose behind this is Fanny bal – a young artist, the creator of Sale Gosse for Frederic Malle, for naming one, definitely a rising star in perfumery.

EXTRIT D'ATELIER – the brand was new for me, but I loved their concept a lot and the most important I liked a lot their fragrances. They are four in total, inspired of the atmosphere and work of artisans. My favorite was Maitre Couturier – an elegant fougere with lavender, aldehydes and woody notes, and the new launch – Maitre Ceramiste – a curious multilayered creation, powdery, dusty, milky, bit metallic and mineral – definitely one to look for.

L'ORCHESTRE PARFUM  - fragrances inspired of music experiences from different places all around the world. It was a wonderful discovery to test perfumes while listening the music that gave the start to them, it was a Music of Fragrance. I would like to point out one that touched me specially  - Rose Trombone – the solo of trombone in dark jazz club, an insolence rose with woody boozy base.

ATELIER DES ORS – presented their new White Line, composed by three perfumes, inspired by paintings of Gustav Klimt, by luminosity, by white and gold.

SAMMARCO – no new launches and no need of them. The mastery of perfumery is presented  in all their natural authentic and daring fragrances. PS! I discovered for myself Ariel, that I had tested in run in past – deeply feminine, powdery, tender, but animalic.  It’s a perfume I would like to come back with a special post.

DUSITA – Even without new launches, Dusita is the TOP of perfumery.  All fragrances are genuine artistic presentations, beautiful as their creator Pissara Umavijani. The newest fragrance is Erawan. It was presented already at Pitti last year, but for me it was new. It’s complex as only simplicity can be. Green and dusty but also creamy, bread-like with aromatic herbs, hay and lily of the valley. It would be better not to stop on notes but just enjoy the experience with wearing it.

GABRIELLA CHIEFFO – presented Lattedoro (golden milk), a comforting gourmand fragrance with vanilla, milky notes, sandalwood and coconut. I detected mostly coconut and being honest it didn’t impress me a lot. But I take the possibility to mention one previous fragrances of this house I truly love – Acquasala, a marine fragrance that also not-marine-fragrance-lovers love.

DFG 1924 – no news and not needed, as all their fragrances are launched last year. It’s a new perfume house born in 2014, but with solid roots. Their perfumer Roberto Pasquale Dario brought in life ancient  formulas of  brands forefather Dalla Favera Giustino who was the founder of family’s pharmacy and creator of original formulas at 1924. I would like to point out my personal favorites  - La Fontana di Titti – a tender musky floral; Il Mercante dei sogni – fabulous woody powder of green;

D.S.& DURGA – Not a new launch, but new for me – Burning Barbershop – an immediate love that made me use all my free skin on arms for spraying it all over. A wonderful  relaxing and invigorating cuddle of lavender, vanilla and mint.

Obviously there was much much more to discover. It’s just a little bite of the whole experience Esxence offered.

Only some years ago I was sure about not loving roses in perfumes. I had tested some, some dusty and with retro vibe that seemed to scream "old!!!" and I snobbed all the rest of them. It's just a shame how foolish I was! Thanksfully I learned with time that rose is one of the most versatile notes ever and it became one of my most loved ones. 
I don't want to complicate thing with explaining differences between different rose species that may be used, as often this information lucks and it doesn't help me when it's stated as "Rose" in perfume's pyramide. Though, mostly used  are Damask rose descendant from Gallic rose coltivated in Arabic countries and Bulgaria;  Mai rose or Rosa centifolia coltivated in the France, Morocco; Tea rose, Taif Rose - a variety of damask rose and others. Besides of the specie of rose used, the responsability of the mood fragrance carries lays on other notes. And the result may vary from fresh to dark, from gofic to tender or gourmand and girly or green and woody or sensual and sexy. Rose may have as may faces as woman has and maybe that's the reason why it's a symbol of womanity and I can swear there is a rose for everyone, definitely not only for women, but also for men.
I love to classify things, so I classified some rose perfumes I like by the way I detect them. PS! I named also some widely loved fragrances that I personally don't like a lot, they are in "(...)". It's a personal classification and obiously may vary from person to person, but here we go... and I named my top 8 as well:

Safari (pour femme) RALF LAUREN

Sono passati 28 anni da quando è stato creato, ma Safari ha sempre il suo fascino. È classificato come una fragranza floreale-verde, ma per un profumo così ricco e profondo non bastano due parole per descriverlo.
Safari è la creazione di un super-Naso - Dominique Ropion, il creatore di Ysatis,  Amarige, Flowerbomb, La Vie Est Belle, Portrait of a Lady, Carnal Flower, Superstitious e tanti altri, e ha l'intensità che caratterizzi tutti i suoi lavori. La lista delle note di Safari è lunga, ma dominano il tagete, il galbano, il giacinto, il narcisso, il vetiver, gli aldeidi,l'iris. Essendo verde, con i sentieri dell'erba e del fieno provennienti dal galbano potrebbe risultare freddo e distante come Chanal n.19 per esempio, ma Safari, pur essendo secco e poudrèe come N.19, emana il calore del sole, è morbido e rotondo. Ha l'assomiglianze con Chamade di Guerlain e Grand Amour di Annick Goutal, ma ogniuno possiede la sua personalità. La sua sorella molto più giovane (nata il 2010) e direi anche molto più ricca :-)), con i tratti più simili a mio naso, è Antonia di Puredistance.
Io porto Safari nei momenti del bisogno di sentirmi affermata, raffinata e forte... Immagina una leonessa nella savanna, Safari è lei - forte, orgogliosa e libera... Delle volte poiprendo la mia purse spray di Safari solamente per ammirare la bellezza della sua confezione di cristallo pesante e sfaccettata - è favolosa!

04. Rêverie au jardin TAUER PERFUMES

IT: Parlando di lavanda sono un pò di parte - è la nota che mi è sempre piaciuta. Ma chi associa la lavanda alle colonie maschili e ai tipici odori da barbershop qui deve a ricrederci. Rêverie au Jardin è probabilmente una delle più femminili interpretazioni di questa meravigliosa nota. Accostata al burro d'iris, alla resina dell'abete, alla fava tonka, all'ambra e alla vanilla non ha niente a che fare con la barberia. Un'abito lungo di velluto di seta color viola, una lunga collana di perle, una nuvola di cipria - questo è Rêverie au jardin.
Andy Tauer che l'ha creato nel 2007 ha confermato ancora una volta la sua genialità e la sua capacità d'interpretazione.

ENG: Speaking about lavender I'm biased as I've always loved this note in perfumes. But those who associate lavender to masculine colognes and typical barbershop smells here must change their mind. Rêverie au Jardin is probably one of the most feminine interpretations of this marvelous note. Combined with iris butter, fir resin, tonka bean, amber and vanilla has nothing to do with fresh colognes we could expect from lavender. A long dress of purple silk velvet, a long pearl necklace, a cloud of powder - this is Rêverie au jardin.
With creating this perfume on 2007, Andy Tauer confirmed once again his geniality and ability of interpretation.

Gabrielle CHANEL

IT: Gabrielle - 2017 - creazione di Oliver Polge.
Oggi ho portato Gabrielle.... e niente, non è il MIO Chanel....ma ci provo a descriverlo.
La mia prima impressione - è tenero, agrumato, mielato, fiorito, a tratti amarognolo... mi porta in mente Elie Saab, Flora Nymphea di Guerlain, Coco Mademoiselle, Beige, Jour d'Hermes... ci percepisco il pompelmo,  il cassis e un bouquet fiorito addolciti dal miele.
La dolcezza si aumentava con il tempo diventando quasi marmellatosa,  avendo comunque un tocco amaro ben presente che derivava probabilmente da cassis.
Devo dire che non saprei distinguerlo tra diversi profumi moderni commerciali. La sua composizione segue la stessa linea di fruttati-fioriti-fresci fatta con piú raffinatezza e delicatezza ma siamo sempre comunque lí, sugli stessi binari.
Solo 5-6 ore dopo ho sentito un soffio di speranza - era sparita la dolcezza fruttata  e per qualche momento ho sentiti presenza della delicatezza di Cristalle Verte, 31 Rue Cambon, Beige.... solo per questa base non boccio il Gabrielle. Secondo me l'apertura abbastanza anonima serve per essere più "facile" (ed è peccato che sia così), la base, gli sentori di tante ore dopo,possono passare anche innosservati e non sono quelle a chiamare la clientela più numerosa e quindi non cambiano le vendite. Da quanto però amo i profumi di Chanel, la mia conoscenza di Gabrielle finisce quando finisce il mio campioncino.
PS! Mi lascia un pò perplessa la scelta del nome. Gabrielle dovrebbe presentare Coco da giovane, ma dov'è la grinta, la ribellione e l'arroganza? Io non penso che Coco anche a 20 anni avesse potuto essere solo gentile, piacevole e generica. O forse Gabrielle deve portare solo l'idea della gioventù? Non lo so...

I weared Gabrielle today all day long..... and nope, it's not MY Chanel.
Gabrielle is tender, citrusy,  slightly bitter floral. By the first impact it recalled Elie Saab, Guerlain Flora Nymphea , Beige, Coco Mademoiselle, Jour d'Hermes .... I detected grapefruit, cassis and a bouquet of white flowers, orange flower mostly and some tuberose sweetened by honey. In an hour it became sweeter and jammier always remining loyal to light bitter touch coming from cassis I guess.
Gabrielle is pleasant and nice, but I wouldn't be able to distinguish it among other modern commercial perfumes. It follows into the same fresh floral fruity category made with more refinement and delicacy but still, it followes the same seen a lot of times pattern.
Though I was happy to detect some Chanel's calligraphy in the base after 5-6 hours.There seemed to be mixed in Cristalle Verte, 31, Rue Cambon and Beige and I didn't detect any more the disturbing bitter fruitiness that was served me for the first hours wearing it.
Probably Gabrielle manages to please younger well-dressed "working in office and following fashion trends" clients, and maybe it's its aim, but I, as much as I love Chanel, don't need  a bottle of it.
PS! The name leaves me perplessed as well. If it should rappresent the youth of Coco, where are the strenght, the rebellion and arrogance? I don't think Coco even in her 20s could have been just nice and gentle. Or maybe this perfume carries the name of Gabrielle only as a symbol of youth..I don't know..

IT: Le strade che portino i profumi da me possano essere sorprendenti... Forse non avrei mai conosciuto Oliver & Co. se non avessi partecipato al Giveway organizzato da Fragrantica e Oliver & Co. e se non avessi vinto il campioncino di Vaninger.
Con il tempo ho avuto la possibilità di testare tutte le fragranze di Oliver & Co. e devo solo ringraziare questo caso che mi ha fatto scoprire la grande creatività e il coraggio del giovane profumiere Oliver Valverde.
Oliver & Co. è stato fondato da lui nel 2009. Oliver, cresciuto in Andalusia osservando il lavoro di suo padre nell'officina del marmo fu sempre affascinato dalla natura e dal lavoro nei laboratori. Per hobby e per la curiosità ha cominciato mischiare le materie naturali con aromachemicali con l'idea di arrivare ai territori non conosciuti. Ha iniziato con la creazione delle candele passando poi ai profumi. Le sue fragranze sono create manualmente senza seguire né la moda, né le tendenze. Il marchio è noto come "una boccata d'aria fresca" tra i produttori di profumi artigianali del XXI secolo.

La collezione è fatta di due serie: Illustrated Serie e Nebulae.
Illustrated serie  include 8 fragranze tutte accompagnate dai disegni di Jose Manuel Hortelano. Le fragraze sono:
- Ambergreen
- M.O.U.S.S.E.
- M.O.U.S.S.E II
- La Colonia
- Vaninger
- Gincense
- Resina
- Vetiverus
Il mio top 3, tenendo in conto il gusto personale, sono Vaninger, Ambergreen and La Colonia.
- Ambergreen è qualcosa di talmente diverso che andrebbe scoperto anche solamente per una intensa esperienza olfattiva. È un profumo verde, ma un verde edibile che porta l'acquolina nella bocca. Ha l'odore dei peperoni freschi, del sedano, dell'erba tagliata e a sorpresa basa sull'ambra, più precisamente sull'ambroxan, il componente moderno e super persistente. Fischiano alla stranezza delle note Ambergreen riesce comunque essere portabilissimo, piacevole e sicuramente unico.
- Vaninger - sarà il fatto che io ami tanto lo zenzero, ma la sua succosità e la piccantezza accostate alla morbidezza della vaniglia appoggiate sul balsamo di tolu, benzoino e ambroxan lo rendono semplicemente irresistibile.
- La Colonia - una colonia aromatica, leggermente agrumata e con un leggero soffio marino. Non è una fragranza tipicamente ozonata, sono le erbe aromatiche ad essere protagoniste e una in particolare - l'aneto. L'aneto che si usa tanto i cucina nordica e che ha le assomiglianza con finocchio. La composizione è più tenera e soffice rispetto ad altre due descritte sopra, ma la persistenza è ottima anche qui.
Nebulae serie ci racconta il mistero dello Spazio.
